Veterinarians donate their time and expertise, and once a week two vets goes into the countryside to spay animals at no charge so that there are fewer packs of dogs, thus protecting livestock. In town Amigos works with the SMA Department of Ecology by caring for the dogs captured in the colonias, trying to get in touch with owners, finding homes for those dogs that are adoptable or humanely euthanizing others.
