The San Miguel Community Foundation (SMCF) was founded in 1976 as a way to enable donors to SMA qualified charities to receive USA tax-deductible receipts. Also, the SMCF employs its funds to help community projects not adopted by other organizations. SMCF gets its funds through bequests, cash donations, houses and land as well as additional non-monetary, but fully tax deductible donations. To help achieve the value of the non-monetary donations, estate planning techniques are available. Donations can be ear-marked for special purposes.

City Secretary Cristobal Finkelstein reports that SMA now has all the necessary information and 92 percent of SMA’s buses now meet all requirements.
