Citizens of the USA as of next Monday, June 1, entering the USA will be required to show a passport or equivalent.
SMA, Guanajuato, Mexico and about 180 other countries will join in celebrating World Environment Day on June 5. There will be city-wide events starting June 1 through June 5.
Sergio Espinolo, SMA’s new president of the National Chamber of Restaurants and Seasoned Foods (CANIRAC) and his organization continue to search ways to entice tourists, not only to SMA, but to Guanajuato.
There is just a few days more than a month until SMA municipal elections on July 5. Four candidates are running for mayor, and they have scheduled one-and-a-half-hour talks before the foreign community in the Santa Ana Theater, Reloj 50-A.

San Julia is one of SMA’s orphanages (casas de hogar). Thanks to Terri Carlton and the group she founded, the Fairhope (Alabama) Chapter of Friends of Santa Julia, the home has an operating solar thermal water heating system, and is able to save $500 to $1,000 pesos a month even though the children now can have showers daily. - Shalom San Miguel will meet in the TV Salon of the Hotel Quinta Loreto, Loreto 15 for Shavuot Friday at 9:30 a.m. and Yizkor the next day at 9:15 a.m.

- Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will hear a follow up to Rev. Tom Rosiello talk about relevance of religion in our secular lives by King Culp, Lee Veal and Marge Zap. The Fellowship welcomes all races, religions, sexual orientation, and gender identity, when it meets each Sunday in La Posada de la Aldea, Ancha de San Antonio 15 at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome.
June 2
- The Midday Rotary Club has its weekly meeting in the Hotel Real de Minas. Check-in hour is from noon to 12:15, and the meeting starts promptly at 12:30. General Coordinator and co-founder of Environmental Education Project Eugenia Velasco will tell about the program and its operations.
June 10
- Singles Group is now meeting each Wednesday at Woolis Kaban Restaurant, San Francisco 25 from 5:00 to 7:00. Newcomers, singles, couples and just those interested in meeting new folks are invited to come.

June 5 – SQ – In Spanish – Atahualpa Caldera Sosa will give a talk on “The Laja River and its ecological importance” at 4:00.
Tours
May 30
- Saturday Adventure Tours usually visit a home or business of an artist or artisan (Tomas LeNoir) and then go to a place of interest out of town (La Landeta). The tour leaves from the Jardín at 10:30 a.m. and benefits the Centro de Crecimiento.
May 31
- House and Garden Tour begins gathering at the Biblioteca Pública at 11:00 a.m. Two houses are scheduled to be visited.
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, a walking tour of historic SMA led by SMA volunteers leaves the Jardín in front of the Parroquia. The tour lasts a little over two hours and is mostly level walking. Taking the tour helps provide medical and dental care for children in need through Patronato Pro Niños.
June 2 and 4
- The Tuesday and Thursday tours of the botanic garden El Charco del Ingenio continue. To join the tour, meet at the main entrance to leave promptly at 10:00 a.m. The tour lasts about two and a half hours. Bring hat and water and wear comfortable walking shoes.
