The good news is that the police programs, “Estrella Azul” for youngsters 6 to 18 and “Grupo Vivo” for more than 200 of those who get training in carpentry, painting and blacksmithing etc., seem to be working. Police Chief Daniel Trujillo is actively fighting to keep the cartels out of SMA, but children at these ages are vulnerable. On June 15, a group of youngish well organized thieves were caught who used and robbed cell phones. Their cell phones had numbers of various police, some high ranking ones.
