24-hour ambulance service, 365 days a year. For emergency service,
dial 152-1616. The service is for all - Mexicans, foreigners,
residents and visitors.
The 70 volunteers have taken courses in basic life saving and 20 of them
have also advanced their education by taking the basic emergency medical
technician course and are certified nationally. There are three
doctors who have taken an advanced trauma life support course, several
experts in disaster management, urban rescue and water safety. There are six
First Responders employed full time.
There are four fully equipped ambulances donated by the State of
Guanajuato, the Guajuye Glass factory, the municipality of SMA and
various other donors.
Of the approximate monthly cost of $45,000 pesos to run the Red Cross in
SMA, the City provides $16,666 pesos. The rest has to come from
the annual fund drive, permanent donors, fund raisers, and raffles.
Donations of money can be by direct deposit in either Banorte or Lloyd
Bank, or via the San Miguel Educational Foundation. Donations in
kind are also gratefully received - material, vehicles or equipment that
might be useful. The Red Cross can give donors tax-deductible
receipts.
